One thing worth knowing: MP3 is a lossy format, so converting from another lossy file (like M4A or AAC) re-encodes it and loses a little detail. It is usually inaudible at 256 or 320 kbps. For the best result, start from the highest-quality source you have rather than an already low-bitrate copy.
