Private, nothing is uploaded

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Turn JPG and JPEG photos into PNG files, the format editors and design tools expect when you need lossless, transparency-ready images. It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, there's no account, no watermark, and you can batch freely.

When to convert JPG to PNG

Convert to PNG when a tool or workflow specifically wants it: many design apps, document pipelines, and website build steps prefer PNG, and some upload forms accept only PNG. PNG is also the right target when you're about to edit the image and want a lossless working copy, since re-saving a JPG repeatedly stacks up compression artifacts, while PNG won't degrade no matter how many times you save it.

What PNG does and doesn't add

Converting to PNG stops any further quality loss from that point on, but it can't undo compression that already happened in the JPG, the detail a lossy JPG discarded is gone for good, so the PNG preserves exactly what the JPG currently holds, just without adding new artifacts. PNG also supports transparency, but a JPG has none to begin with, so the converted PNG will be fully opaque unless you add transparency later in an editor.

Expect a larger file

A JPG is small because it compresses aggressively; a lossless PNG of the same photo is typically several times larger. That's normal and the point, you're trading size for a lossless, widely-accepted file. If the larger size is a problem and you don't need lossless, keeping the JPG (or converting to WebP) is the smaller option. For icons, logos, and screenshots, PNG's size is well worth its crisp, lossless output.

Tips

  • Convert to PNG when you need a lossless working copy before editing.
  • PNG from a JPG will be larger, that's expected for a lossless format.
  • A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG is opaque unless you add it in an editor later.
  • Batch convert the whole folder at once, nothing is uploaded.
