Private, nothing is uploaded

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Turn large PNG files into compact JPGs that are faster to upload, email, and share. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, there's no account, no watermark, and you can batch as many images as you like.

Why convert PNG to JPG

PNG is lossless, which makes it great for crisp graphics but heavy for photographs, a photo saved as PNG can be several times larger than it needs to be. Converting to JPG applies efficient photo compression, often cutting the file size dramatically with no visible difference. That's exactly what you want for emailing a picture, uploading to a site with a size cap, or speeding up a web page where a big PNG photo is slowing the load.

Transparency becomes white

JPG has no alpha channel, so any transparent areas in the PNG are filled with solid white rather than black during conversion, which keeps logos and cut-outs looking clean on a page. If the transparency is important, for example a logo meant to sit over a colored background, keep the PNG or convert to WebP instead. For screenshots and photos that are already fully opaque, there's nothing to lose and JPG's smaller size is pure win.

Pick the right quality

The quality slider decides the size-versus-detail trade. 90% is a safe default that looks identical to the PNG for photos; 80% shrinks further with only slight softening. Graphics with hard edges or text are the exception, JPG can add faint halos around sharp lines, so if your PNG is a logo or diagram rather than a photo, consider keeping PNG or using a high quality setting. For photographs, JPG at 85–92% is the sweet spot.

Tips

  • Converting a photo-heavy PNG to JPG can shrink it several times over with no visible loss.
  • Transparent areas become white in JPG, keep PNG if transparency matters.
  • For logos, diagrams, or text, JPG can add halos, PNG stays crisp.
  • Quality 85–92% is the sweet spot for photos; go lower only to hit a size limit.

Questions

How do I convert PNG to JPG for free?
Drop your .png files in, set a quality, and download the JPGs. It runs in your browser, so there's no upload, no account, and no watermark.
Will converting PNG to JPG make the file smaller?
Usually yes, often dramatically for photos, because JPG uses efficient lossy compression where PNG is lossless. Graphics with flat colors may not shrink as much.
What happens to transparency?
JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Keep the PNG or use WebP if you need to preserve transparency.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Conversion happens entirely on your device, nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is stored.
